If you want the "Pescado Blanco" that can only be found in lake Petén Itzá, Doña Rosa is the place. She only is open at lunch but serves the freshest Blanco in the area at very reasonable prices. Find her on Google close to Giovanni´s store.

With a stunning view and a nice little menu, Salatjá is a place to hang out and observe the busy lake between Flores and San Miguel. Situated in second row, you can see their colorful murals from the boat if you look towards the stone horse in San Miguel.

One of the newest culinary additions in San Miguel is Adra Hostel. With their floating platform, you can't get much closer to the lake while having great food and a perfect view of the island of Flores. Find it on Google Maps, you can only reach it from the back.

Bea runs Veamar restaurant right at the landing spot of the boats. With a solid menu and sometimes live music, it is a chill place to hang out and it has a beautiful garden inside.

Geydi makes delicious pies and cakes - the only issue is that she doesn't have fixed opening hours. But if you walk by Monjes 2, you'll see a pink building on the other side of the road and even if the door is closed, she's probably in the back and will sell you a piece.

Dey and Nathan offer organic and locally produced honey as well as home made products from producers in the area and their little store is very cute. Find them down at the waterfront right where Balam Bikes is (they own both businesses).

Famous among insiders, Organico offers home made products such as whole grain bread, organic jams or spicy chili sauces. Without a physical store, most products have to be ordered and are delivered within San Miguel or on the island of Flores.

Monjes 1 & 2

These are the biggest neighborhood stores in San Miguel and offer basic everyday use articles and products. The main store is right by the stone horse down by the water and the second one is up the hill on the way to the Mayan Museum.

William Mendez creates jewellery and artisanal products such as bracelets, pendants, rings, earrings etc. and sells them at his house next to the soccer field or sometimes also at the Mirador Del Rey Canek.

Arcas is a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center dedicated to protecting native species of the Maya Biosphere. It cares for animals affected by trafficking, habitat loss, and human conflict, with the goal of rehabilitating and releasing them back into the wild whenever possible. Mayan Museum

Museo Regional Mundo Maya is a regional museum that showcases the history, culture, and archaeology of the ancient Maya civilization in Petén. Through artifacts, ceramics, and informative exhibits, it offers visitors an accessible introduction to the region’s rich pre-Columbian heritage and the archaeological sites that surround it. It is free of charge and open from 9am until 4pm.

Beaches

We have several beaches in the area. Playa El Chechenal is the most visited, while Villa Tayasal and Playa Romelia are quieter and often considered nicer. All of them can be reached on foot, but you can also ask a Tuk-Tuk driver to take you there.
